Every planning conversation, every projection, every quarterly payment and every return starts with the books. When they are current, the rest of the work is precise. When they are months behind, everything downstream becomes an estimate. We keep books current, monthly, and we do it in a way that feeds directly into tax strategy.
What is included
- Monthly bookkeeping. Transactions categorized, bank and credit card accounts reconciled, and questions resolved with you each month rather than once a year.
- Financial statements. A profit and loss statement, a balance sheet and, where useful, a cash flow statement every month, with a short note on what moved.
- Cash flow analysis. Where the money is going, what is seasonal, and what the next few months look like.
- QuickBooks Online setup, cleanup and support. A chart of accounts built for your business, a cleanup of past periods if the file is messy, and support when you have questions.
- Catch-up bookkeeping. Prior months or years brought current before a return or a planning engagement.
- Year-end close. Books closed and reconciled so the tax return is prepared from final numbers.
Why it matters for tax
An S corporation salary, a quarterly estimate, a retirement contribution and an equipment purchase are all decisions made against a profit figure. If that figure is three months stale, the decision is a guess. Monthly books are what make tax strategy a plan instead of a hope, and they are what let us use the annualized method for estimated taxes when income is uneven.
How it works
- Onboarding. We connect bank feeds, set up or review your QuickBooks file, and agree on how you want questions handled.
- Monthly close. Books are reconciled and statements delivered on a schedule, with a short list of items we need from you.
- Quarterly review. We look at the numbers together alongside the tax projection.
- Year end. The close feeds directly into return preparation; nothing is redone.
Who it is for
Small businesses that want their books handled by the same people who plan their taxes: service businesses, med spas and fitness studios, real estate professionals, contractors, medical and dental practices, consultants and content creators, among others. We work with all industries, remotely, across all 50 states.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to use QuickBooks?
QuickBooks Online is our standard platform and the one we support most deeply. If you are on something else, tell us during the discovery call and we will work out whether to move you or keep what you have.
How far behind can my books be?
We take on catch-up work regularly. The first step is a look at the file and the bank activity so we can scope the cleanup honestly.
Do you handle payroll or sales tax filings?
We coordinate with your payroll provider so payroll flows into the books correctly and S corporation salaries are set properly. Ask about other filings during the discovery call so we can tell you exactly what is included.
